The BABY-SAFE plus SHR II has all the safety and comfort features that the BABY-SAFE plus II has to offer. Why side impact protection is so important At this point yesterday, as you will recall, we reported how important side impact protection is, particularly for babies. So I’m especially keen to also explain to you the engineering behind our new Britax Römer D-SIP® s – so that as of now you, too, can be sure that your children are optimally protected.

What is D-SIP®?
The D-SIP® system is a D-shaped device at both sides of the handle of the new BABY-SAFE plus II und BABY-SAFE plus II SHR infant carriers.
When developing this device, we paid particular attention to ensuring that it was simple and uncomplicated to handle. And this is how it works: just swing open the D-SIP® device that is nearest to the car’s door – that’s it! An audible click signals that the device has engaged properly, and thus your baby is optimally protected.

And how does the technology function that’s behind the D-SIP® device?
In the event of a side impact, the D-SIP® system shortens the distance to the car’s door. This means the impact’s energy is distributed over the entire outer construction of the infant carrier, and is diverted into its shell and away from the baby. This minimises the potential stress on your baby.

Once you’ve arrived at your destination, you can simply fold up the D-SIP® device again – and then it’s very easy to take the BABY-SAFE infant carrier out of the car once more.
